Damage Mechanisms Affecting  Fixed Equipment in the Refining Industry

This class is an INTENSIVE class that is designed for the pressure equipment inspector and engineer working in refineries.

Course Overview

This course prepares the student for the API 571 examination.  The course is an intensive study of metallurgy and corrosion.  This course IS NOT designed to teach you the test.  It is designed to provide you with the education needed to pass the test.  The student will leave this course with a complete understanding of refinery related metallurgy and corrosion mechanisms that will allow them to reason through the test questions.

Objectives

The course provides participants with the knowledge necessary to:

ü     Understand the subject matter on the API 571 exam.**(Rustbusters guarantee)

ü     Build upon the basics of metallurgy

ü     Understand the relationship between various corrosion mechanisms and associated metallurgy

ü     Understand inspection techniques for the different metallurgies and corrosion mechanisms.

General Notes

ü     Students should have at least 5 years of refinery experience.  As stated before, this is a very INTENSIVE course, and the more experience the student has, the easier it will be.

ü     This course will have daily homework and a final exam (similar to the API 571) exam).  We recommend the student stay at the class hotel.

Bring to Class

ü     A copy of the API 571 should be brought to class.

ü     Bring pencils & highlighters

 

 

Daily Schedule            Monday – Saturday:  7:30 am – 5:30 pm

                                    Monday – Friday  6:30 -         Homework

 

If possible, you should stay at the hotel and participate in the evening sessions.  Those who are most successful, generally commit the whole week to studying and learning this subject.

 

Class Size:                   We will limit enrollment to 25 students.
