Atmospheric
Corrosion Control
Course
Level:
Course
Description: An in-depth study of
atmospheric corrosion control by coatings which includes surface preparation,
coating selection, coating application, inspection, and failure analysis.
Learning
Outcomes: Identify the mechanisms utilized by coatings to
control corrosion; select appropriate coating materials for specific corrosion
applications; determine the appropriate surface preparation and application
procedures required for all common coating materials; and demonstrate the
ability to operate, calibrate, and maintain all common coating inspection
instruments. Demonstrate work habits that include safety, cleanliness,
efficiency, quality of work, and respect for expensive instrumentation;
recognize the causes of common coating failures; and identify the corrective
measures needed to modify or improve the performance of equipment.
