Course Level:

Course Description:  A comprehensive study of refining properties, mechanical properties, and physical properties of ferrous and nonferrous materials including the theory of alloys, heat treatment, and testing.

Learning Outcomes:  Define the physical and mechanical properties of ferrous and nonferrous metals; describe the steel making process; name and describe methods of nondestructive testing; explain the effects of hot working, cold working, welding, machining, and heat treating on metal properties; perform common NDT tests to pinpoint failures; define common metallurgical terms and processes; and recognize common defects and their causes.
